Trial Cakes

I was asked to make a wedding cake in December, so I have been trying out some new recipes. I have been using the cookbook from Extraordinary Desserts. So far I have made two of the cakes from this book. They aren't so pretty to look at, but they tasted good.
That's what I am going for at this point.
The first cake was the Ivoire Royal.
It is a sour cream pound cake with a vanilla simple syrup, white chocolate mousse filling, and strawberries.
My family and friends have been happy to be cake testers. Soon after I made the first cake, Angie asked Atti what kind of cake he wanted for his birthday. He told her the strawberry cake that I made. She laughed (because it did take 3 days to make!).
I agreed to tryout a different cake for his birthday.
This is the Lemon Ricotta Cake.
It has a ricotta pound cake, lemon simple syrup, lemon curd, lemon whipped cream, strawberries, and lemon buttercream.

Atti scored the cake!
